SUPERFICIE

[ESP]

SURFACE

[ENG]

In these paintings, the surface is a space of continual construction and transformation.

Made with oil and acrylic on canvas, the works develop through gestures, marks, lines and fields of colour that overlap, interrupt and sometimes conceal one another. Each intervention alters what came before and takes the image in new directions, without a defined centre or fixed hierarchy.

Some elements fade beneath the layers and later resurface, forming relationships, repetitions and variations. The surface retains traces of this process: corrections, accumulations and remnants of earlier states remain within the painting, even when barely perceptible.

Rather than representing something external, these works explore what happens in the act of painting and how an image gradually takes shape. Rhythms, densities and connections emerge from the interaction of material, colour and gesture. The surface is both the place where all this happens and a record of its transformations.
